League One Burton Albion take on the goliath challenge of travelling to the Etihad to face Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City in the first-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Guardiola’s ostensibly second-string side is likely to include Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and one of Gabriel Jesus or Sergio Aguero and will show their opponents little in the way of mercy if their FA Cup third-round drubbing of Rotherham on Sunday leaves anything to go by.

Burton do come into the fixture with a momentum of their own though having defeated Rochdale 4-0 last weekend, with 22-year-old English winger Marcus Harness scoring a hat-trick, in the club’s second successive clean sheet.

The game, and probably the tie itself, has been put to bed but Man City still want more. De Bruyne holds onto the ball before sending Sane into the box. Sane squares it and Burton make a mess of the clearance allowing Mahrez to get a shot on goal and forcing Collins to tip the ball over the bar.

GOAL!

It was always going to be a difficult task for Burton to get anything out of this game. Their entire squad cost the club just £1m in comparison to Manchester City’s £530m.

David Silva drifts into the box as the ball comes over the top again, he brings it down and squares it to Gabriel Jesus. Jesus sends the goalkeeper to his right before slotting the ball into the net off the post.
