Liverpool fan keeps his Divock Origi tattoo promise after Merseyside derby winner

A Liverpool supporter has stuck to a promise he made to get a Divock Origi tattoo on his leg following his winning goal against Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Origi came on as a late substitute and profited from Jordan Pickford’s blunder in the 96th minute to nod into an empty net from close range and give Jurgen Klopp’s side all three points in the Premier League clash.

Klopp celebrated by running onto the pitch and was fined £8,000 by the Football Association, but one Liverpool fan will live with a more permanent reminder of the late drama.

“If Origi scores I’ll get a ‘Divock’ tattoo,” Twitter user ForeverRed98 said when the Belgian forward replaced Roberto Firmino in the 84th minute, a fairly safe bet given has not scored for Liverpool since May 2017.

However, with seconds left in the match, Virgil Van Dijk sliced a volley high into the air with seemingly little consequence, but Pickford misjudged the effort and the ball bounced from the crossbar and towards Origi for him to convert with ease.

Three days after the bizarre victory, the supporter made plans to visit a tattoo parlour and stayed true to his word.

He got ‘D1v0ck’, with the ‘1’ in red and the ‘0’ in blue to signify the score, to mark the match and live up to his wager.

In a team of talented attacking players, Origi may not be the most memorable forward in the current crop of Liverpool players, but one fan will be reminded of his heroics for the rest of his life.
